Digital: Twitter Settles Charges on Failing to Protect Consumer Data

Security lapses at Twitter enabled hackers to gain administrative rights within the Twitter application twice in 2009. With such access, hackers would be able to send out tweets from user accounts, like President Obama.  While Twitter was a small start-up at the time, the FTC failed to accept that as reasonable justification as to the company’s lack of reasonable security protocols.

Digital: Facebook Fans Add Value to Brands

Not surprisingly, consumers that are Facebook Fans of a brand are more valuable to that brand than consumers that are not a fan.  Without getting into the specific examples, I will leave that information to the original posting, I did find the angles in which they analyzed the value of a consumer interesting.  In particular, the study looked at the following five factors:
